Beijing is the capital of China, one of the most populous country in the world. With a population of more than 20 million people, it is the nation's largest city. It was also the seat of the Ming and Qing dynasty emperors until the establishment of the Republic of China in 1911. Beijing is the political, educational, and cultural center of the country and as such it is rich in historical sites and important government and cultural institutions. -
Guangzhou or Canton, the capital of Guangdong Province, is the third largest city in China after Beijing and Shanghai with a population of more than 12 million. Founded in 214 BC, the city has been a springboard for trading, cultural exchanges, many revolutions and reforms, making it an unavoidable stopover to understand what shapes the modern China. -
Guilin is a city in North Guangxi, China. Guilin is a scenic town and one of the best-known tourist destinations in China. There are many scenic places within short traveling distance of Guilin. These include the Li River, a scene of which is printed on the back of ¥20 bank notes of Chinese Yuan; Yangshuo, a small county downstream from Guilin; and much more. These makes Guilin an excellent base for exploring the northern end of Guangxi Province. -
Harbin is China's northernmost major city, with a metropolitan population in excess of 10 million, and over 4 million in the city center alone. Historically, the city has been influenced a lot by neighboring Russia and remains clearly visible in the building styles and foods. The city was founded in 1897, and was captured by the Japanese during World War II and later returned to China in 1946. Once nothing more than a Russian-built outpost of the railway line, Harbin has expanded far beyond its original limits. -
Shanghai was the largest and most prosperous city in the Far East during the 1930s. Nowadays, Shanghai has become the center of China’s economic, in the past 20 years it has also become an attractive city for tourists from all over the world. The world once again had its eyes on the city when it hosted the 2010 World Expo, recording the greatest number of visitors in the event's history. -
Xi'an is more than 3,000 years old and was known as Chang'an in ancient times. For 1,000 years, the city was the capital for 13 dynasties, and a total of 73 emperors ruled here. Xi'an is the undisputed root of Chinese civilization having served as the capital city for the Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui and Tang dynasties. With so much history within the ground the city lies upon, it is no wonder that there are so many historical ruins, museums and cultural relics to be found here. -
Hainan is the smallest and southernmost province China, consisting of various islands in the South China Sea. Hainan Island, separated from Guangdong's Leizhou Peninsula by the Qiongzhou Strait, is the second largest-island after Taiwan. The name of the island and the province, Hainan, means "South of the Sea", reflecting its position south of the Qiongzhou Strait. Hainan is famous for its tropical climate and has become one of the most famous vacationland for Chinese and people from Southeast Asia, in 2020, Chinese government has officially announced of making Hainan a duty-free province for tourists from all over the world.
